Kim Skillen is an experienced educator with 25 years of service. She has worked as a SS teacher, chairperson, Associate Principal, and District Administrator. Currently, she is the Deputy Superintendent at North Babylon Schools.

Kim’s passion is making a positive impact on students’ lives and has been instrumental in the creation of various programs like UPK and Cosmetology to meet students’ needs while pushing them to meet their unique potential. Additionally, she opened school-based food pantries to provide work experience for disabled students while supporting the community. During the 2020 school closure, she led her team to serve 175,000+ meals and thousands of pounds of groceries to families in need.
In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, Kim, with family and neighbors, founded a 501c3, Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Babylon. With Kim as President, this grassroots organization works to assist with relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts by connecting various local and national organizations. As a FEMA COAD, NSN has forged relationships to ensure Babylon is well-prepared to respond to any future disaster and continues to work diligently to support the community.

Kim is a member of the NY Rising Community Reconstruction Committee, Friends of LI and Vision LI Lobby Day Coalition. She is an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Babylon and is a member of the Personnel Committee and Missions Commission.
Kim has been recognized with various awards including SCOPE’s Community Service Award, Town of Babylon’s Women’s History Month Community Service Award, Vision Long Island’s Smart Growth Award and named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Babylon Rotary Club.
A proud WB 1990 graduate, Kim holds a BA in History from SUNY Oswego, a MS in Education from LIU, CW Post, and completed her School District Administration Certification at SUNY Stony Brook. Her daughter Mackenzie graduated from WB in 2020.
