Douglas G. Hassell Jr. is the owner of Hassell Auto Body of West Babylon in New York. He is the only son of Anne and Douglas Hassell and only brother of Kimberly and Kelly Hassell. He is currently married to his beloved wife of 21 years Catherine and has two beautiful children, Katie and Douglas III, and resides in West Islip. Since 12 years old, he has been a fixture in the shop, learning almost everything he knows from his father about repairing vehicles. Eventually he became an estimator and moved into the office. When Doug Sr. passed away in 2007, Doug Jr. took over Hassell Auto Body and has been successfully running all. He ascertains his facility has the most up to date equipment and his employees are well trained. Customer service is of the upmost importance and all his customers are treated like family.

Of equal importance to Doug, is giving back to the community. Hassell Auto Body host car wash fundraisers almost every Saturday from April to September where all car wash supplies are provided with breakfast and lunch included. Various organizations take advantage of the car wash fundraisers ranging from Boy/Girl Scouts of America, school groups, dance and cheer groups, cancer survivors etc. Around prom and graduation season, Hassell Auto Body places a damaged vehicle at West Babylon High School for Students Against Destructive Decisions, in an effort to remind students to make positive decisions while driving to keep themselves, their passengers and fellow drivers safe. Every November the shop also gives away turkeys to less fortunate families. Throughout the year, various community groups stop in for donations to their organization, whether it be an ad in a bulletin, buying a wreath, supplying supplies to an Eagle Scout project, etc. Hassell Auto Body also has trained and certified child safety seat technicians to install or check infant/child’s car seats and boosters free of charge.

Hassell Auto Body has been a staple in the community for over 50 years beginning with Douglas Hassell Sr. and continuing with Douglas Hassell Jr.
