Kyle McCarthy is a proud member of the West Babylon Graduating Class of 2017.

While Kyle was a student in West Babylon, he became active in many local community groups, including joining the West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department and becoming an intern with the Suffolk County Legislature as well as achieving the Eagle Scout Award with the West Babylon Troop 2014.

After years of involvement in the community and graduating Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security, Kyle now serves as a Lieutenant of the West Babylon Fire Department’s Santapogue Engine Company and as an Aide to Presiding Officer Kevin McCaffery of the Suffolk County Legislature. As a Legislative Aide, he regularly tends to constituent concerns, plans and participates in community events, prepares legislation and legislative briefs, maintains schedules, and prepares press releases for matters of local and countywide concern.

Additionally, Kyle is a Fire Marshal with the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety, where he is responsible for enforcement of the fire code and other laws, as well as performing fire investigations, and responding to hazardous materials emergencies and other high-profile incidents. In 2022, Kyle received two Department Recognition Awards and in 2023 was named Officer of the Year by the Director of Public Safety.

Kyle has applied many of the skills he learned in West Babylon to achieving success in each of his fields of work, and is particularly grateful for the real-world knowledge and applicability of what he learned in graphic communications and other similar classes.
